For all Northeastern Regional Chapter scholarship applications:
- Tax Returns:
- Please submit, in addition to other required application material, your parents' tax return(s) and your tax return (if you filed one).
- For those who will be high school seniors during the upcoming scholarship year (as opposed to high school students who will be college freshmen during the upcoming scholarship year) - you will NOT need to submit your or your parents' tax returns. (please see "c" below.)
- Please note: Our regional chapter will NOT be awarding any monetary/financial scholarships to those students who will be high school seniors during the upcoming scholarship year; rather, they will be eligible to win our scholarship certificates.
- FAFSA:
- Please file your FAFSA application for the upcoming scholarship year and ensure that our regional chapter receives your FAFSA result (Student Aid Report (SAR)) containing SAR's Expected Family Contribution (EFC) number - before our application deadline.
- b. Please note that the FAFSA application deadline may be different from our regional chapter's scholarship application deadline. (For further information about FAFSA and FAFSA application, please visit http://www.fafsa.ed.gov).
- Support:
- Please explain (in the financial section of the application) how much you expect to earn during the upcoming summer and/or during the upcoming scholarship year and, of such earnings, how much you plan to apply towards your educational related expenses.
- If you or your parents cannot contribute to your financial needs, please explain why (in the financial section of the application).
- Essay:
- Please limit your essay to no more than 500 words (we count words).
- Please do not submit essays you've used for school admissions.
- Essays can be written in English or Korean.
- Transcripts:
- All official school transcripts (starting from freshman year in college to the present day) must be sent to us directly from your school (with your school seal) before the deadline.
- If you are a high school student or will be a college freshman during the upcoming scholarship year, you must have your high school send all your high school transcripts directly to us before the deadline.
- Proof of Admission and Attendance:
- If you plan to attend (during the upcoming scholarship year) a school that is different from your current school, please submit a proof of admission from the new school.
- Once you've been selected as our scholarship recipient, you will have to send us (i) a proof of attendance from the school listed in your application and (ii) IRS Form 9-W or its equivalent, both before receiving our scholarship award..
- Please note that your scholarship award from us is based on the condition/requirement that you will actually attend the school you've specifically indicated in your application as your school during the upcoming scholarship year. Any deviation from this condition (or the failure to meet the conditions set forth in 6 (b) above or in the application) will result in an automatic disqualification of your application and withdrawal of our scholarship award to you, all without your right to an appeal.
- Others:
- Please indicate your school year (freshman, sophomore, etc.) during the year for which you will be seeking our scholarship.
- Please provide us with your photo.
- Please provide us with your cell phone number (or a secondary phone number/contact point) - so we can get in touch with you when needed.
- Please have your recommendations sent directly to us - in the form specifically provided on our website application. Please use our form.
- Please enclose with your application, one self-addressed envelopes.
- Application material submitted to us will NOT be returned.

Also, our regional chapter will not be responsible for application material received by us that should have been submitted to other regional chapter. Our regional chapter will not transfer such documents to a different region or return them to the applicant. Hence, it is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure before submitting the application that the applicant’s school during the academic year in which scholarship is sought (not the applicant’s home) is located within our region.

Please note that our scholarship is managed and operated by un-paid volunteers who hold busy careers, so it may take several days to receive answers. Please review this website and the scholarship application carefully before asking questions. We do not man telephones - we answer only those questions submitted in writing via email. Also, Mr. Kim cannot answer whether or not any or all parts of the applicant’s material have been received by us before the end of the deadline as we do not open applications (and related documents) until a week after the deadline.”
