Greetings, The United States and much of the world has been under a recession for the past couple of years, and the decrease in economic output has led to times of record high unemployment. For this reason, it has become more important for students to pursue higher education in order to stand out in an ever-competitive workforce. To assist students in achieving their goals for higher education, the Korean-American Scholarship Foundation was founded to help support and encourage students to continue to strive for these goals. With the rise in tuition costs across the country and a growing population of Korean-Americans, is it important to have a scholarship that specifically targets Korean-Americans not only to help students financially but to teach students the importance of community service and to give students an opportunity discover their heritage and build their social networks. Since the start of the Foundation in 1969, we have awarded well over 4 million dollars in scholarship money to students nationwide. All of the work that goes into making the scholarship foundation is done by a large group of dedicated volunteers. For each scholarship to be awarded, it takes a tremendous amount of work for our volunteers to process the application, raise funds, and host an award ceremony. We, the KASF National Board, pledge to serve the community with passion and transparency. Needless to say, scholarships are but only one aspect of students' lives that affect the pursuance of an education. As a father, I understand that the support of families and loved ones is paramount to the success of the student. Therefore, I encourage families to continue to work together with your children to create a better future for them and to open a pathway of opportunities for those to follow as we the Foundation will continue to offer our services to you all.
